Dr. Syed Abdul-Rahman

ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON

Dr. Abdul-Rahman is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon serving patients in West Georgia at Community Oral Facial Surgery. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University at Buffalo, where he graduated near the top of his class. He then attended the University of Florida, where he completed a six-year, MD-integrated residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) as part of his training. During residency, he received anesthesia training through the Department of Anesthesiology, completed a general surgery internship within the Department of Surgery, and gained clinical experience in a range of oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures, including dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, pathology, TMJ disorders, and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Abdul-Rahman's interest in oral surgery began during a formative observership, where he saw firsthand the difference this specialty can make in patients' lives, restoring not just function, but confidence. That experience shapes how he practices today: he views the doctor-patient relationship as a partnership and takes time to listen to patients, answer their questions, and help them understand their treatment options so they and their families can make informed decisions.

He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS).

Even with the demands of his professional training, Dr. Abdul-Rahman made it a priority to give back to the community. During dental school, he volunteered on Remote Area Medical (RAM) trips to Tennessee and West Virginia; during residency, he served at the Freedom Clinic in Ocala, providing free oral surgery care to underserved patients; and he has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, helping build homes for families in need, something he hopes to continue. He also mentors students pursuing careers in dentistry and medicine.

After completing his residency, Dr. Abdul-Rahman and his wife returned to Georgia, where she was born and raised, and he is glad to be part of the greater Carrollton community. Outside of work, he stays active through long-distance running and strength training, and he and his wife enjoy gardening and visiting local farms with their two daughters.
